TO WIND THE BOBBIN

Loosen the balance wheel by withdrawing the catch (5), take the thread from the spool and pass it behind and between the washers (1) through the eyelet (2) and along the groove on top of swing lever (3), then through the hole in flange of bobbin.

Place this end of bobbin in the cup of winder spindle, with the thread between the flange and the cup, and having then adjusted the reel for winding, press up the winder to place it in contact with the fly-wheel of machine.

Run the wheel in the opposite direction to that when sewing. At any time when the rubber ring has worn sufficiently to keep it from touching the wheel when in gear; loosen screw (B), and push the guard from you till it will wind again; do not have the rubber ring too tight against the wheel or machine will be heavy. Oil the left centre (4).
